Meet Us At The Table!
If you’ve been reading our blogs for a while, you know we love to talk about our digital community. This amazing group of curious, compassionate women is a cornerstone of our work. We’re so proud to be in community with them day in and day out, using research-driven programming to strengthen civic self-efficacy and protect against disinformation. Our approach is not transactional, it’s transformational, rooted in a commitment to long-term relationships and movement building.
In these extremely polarized times, it’s critical that we find the most effective way to reach, engage, and empower women to strengthen our democracy. So today we’re announcing that we’ve built a new home for this incredible community: Galvanize Together. It offers the same support our community is known for as we all take on each day, solve the problems around us, and live our best lives—but on a new platform custom-built for its members.
We call our new forum “The Table” because it’s a digital version of the tables we gather around for so many of life’s important conversations. It’s like a digital coffee break or potluck that is going on whenever, wherever folks need it. Members can explore the different channels and join the conversations that mean the most to them, whether that’s catching up on the latest episode of a favorite show at the Brunch Table, sharing homemade solutions and tips at the Workbench, or breaking down all that life throws at us at the Kitchen Table. We believe that everyone deserves a seat at the Table, so we’re inviting American women to pull up a chair.
The best part of Galvanize Together is that there’s no ads and no algorithms. Building our community on Facebook was great—it allowed us to reach women where they already hang out online. But we also know that Facebook’s algorithms and advertising policies are part of why it’s such a major source of online disinformation. So we’re moving on—no disinformation, no fighting, no weird ads selling suspiciously-specific T-shirts.
By the way, Galvanize Together is powered by volunteer moderators just like the Facebook groups were. It’s their support that allowed us to create an environment that values curiosity and compassion over fact-battling and winning arguments! If you’re a good listener who cares about civic empowerment, you might be just who we’re looking for. Learn more about moderating!
