The Data Behind Galvanize Together’s Impact

We love data at Galvanize USA! All of our careful measurement helps us deeply understand our audience and continuously refine impactful programming for them. Join us as we share some interesting insights about the Galvanize Together community, what they’re engaging with, and why it all worked so well in 2024.

The “Average” User

Our community is certainly not a monolith—every age group, state, and walk of life is represented at Galvanize Together.

Where they live:

How old they are:

But if we take a look at some averages, here’s what a “typical” subscriber’s behavior looked like in 2024:

  • They’ve been subscribed for 177 days, or about half a year. That’s a pretty long time!
  • They’ve clicked on an average of 1.5 links in text messages from Grace. Those links took them to advice columns, quizzes, and In Focus videos. Don’t forget that this is an average—some subscribers opened a lot more links than that!
  • The average subscriber sent 0.28 replies to Grace’s text messages, which means that not everyone is texting back (this is typical of SMS campaigns) but some people ARE! Here are a few of our favorite texts to Grace:
    • “Omg I love the Dear Grace column. I read it all the time.”
    • “Thank you so much and sending hugs and smiling emojis”
    • “Thank you so much, Grace! That encouragement is just what I need right now! ❤️ you’re an angel 😇!”
    • “It’s good to get a text with some positive words now and then some words of encouragement for the ones struggling out there you are doing a great job thanks for taking time out of your day to check in on me”

Dear Grace Ads

Slightly more than half of our community members access Galvanize Together content through those timely, supportive text messages. Another third come directly from advertisements that promote the program, and those ads are a lot more fun than you might expect!

A Dear Grace advertisement "How do I move on from my ex?"
A Dear Grace advertisement "My ex is sending me mixed signals. Is there hope or is it time to move on?"

Open-ended relationship questions like these have been extremely effective at sparking interest in Dear Grace—they’re thought-provoking and juicy in addition to being prosocial and supporting self-esteem. Our audience loves to share their own advice right in the ad comments, and those perspectives are often funny, thoughtful, honest, and entirely too spicy to share with you here. Grace really does go there, and so do her incredible readers! It’s no surprise at all that 64% of user experience survey respondents told us Dear Grace is their favorite part of Galvanize Together! Programmatic Content Areas

Relationships aside, Galvanize Together’s top content areas this year were:

  • Reproductive freedom and women’s health
  • Democracy
  • Childcare and making ends meet
  • Gender equity
  • Civic self-efficacy
  • Self-esteem

That’s because Galvanize USA believes progress in these areas is the best way to create an America where we all thrive. Galvanize Together programming allows us to help our audience navigate busy lives, put politics into context, and build each other up so that we can all move forward. Our work supports healthy participation in our democracy so that together, we can achieve our vision of an America that works for everyone.

If you made a financial gift to Galvanize USA this year, thank you! Your generosity paid for this prosocial programming and the advertising that allowed us to bring Dear Grace and In Focus to more than 335,000 women.
